I thought it was a great cinematic experience. While the human drama seemed underwritten and dealt with poorly, I didn't have as much of a problem with this aspect of the film as I had with the previous monsterverse movies. Maybe if they had streamlined the human story, focused on the three central characters and Dr. Serizawa it would have been better. I honestly didn't see this as being any worse or messy than what we've seen in other blockbuster films in the past five years (DCU, Star Wars, etc). Admittedly my favorite parts of the film are the callbacks to previous Godzilla movies. And I really don't think the movie had strong Dean
